Internship

Do I have to go to paralegal school to be a Certified Legal Document Preparer?

The short answer is no, but if you did it certainly would not hurt.

According to the Arizona Code of Judicial Administration § 7-208 (E) – there
are a number of ways you may become eligible to be certified as a Legal Document
Preparer and sit for the Certified Legal Document Preparer Exam. The applicant for
initial certification shall possess one of the following combinations of education or
experience among others:

AZ STATEWIDE PARALEGAL offers an internship program that will give you an education that you won't get in Paralegal School.

(1) A high school diploma AND 2 years of law-related experience under the supervision of a certified legal document preparer after July 1, 2003

(2) A four year bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree from an accredited college or university and 1 year of law-related experience under the supervision of a certified legal document preparer after July 1, 2003

(3) A certificate of completion from a paralegal school or legal assistant program approved by the American Bar Association;

(4) A certificate of completion from a paralegal school or legal assistant program that is institutionally accredited but not approved by the American Bar Association, and that requires successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester units, or the equivalent, in legal specialization courses;

(5) A certificate of completion from an accredited educational program designed specifically to qualify a person for certification as a legal document preparer under this section.

Our interns actually work as certified legal document preparer trainees. We even inform the Board of Legal Document Preparers at the Supreme Court of Arizona that you are our trainee and all that time will be credited to the experience requirements stated above.

In Paralegal School, you won't learn the nuts and bolts necessary to actually be a certified legal document preparer!

As an intern at AZ Statewide Paralegal you will be trained on the Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure, Arizona Revised Statutes, and many other rules of procedure and statutes. You will also learn how to effectively create professional legal documents; how to handle clients, how to manage a file and much more.

Learn from our exceptional team of trainers!

AZ STATEWIDE PARALEGAL was founded by a very successful entrepreneur who has also been an Arizona attorney since 1992. That means that you will benefit from a history of successful legal practice.

Is this a paid position?

Not at first, but you can work your way into a paid position and maybe even more! The legal document preparation industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the country and we are expanding. If you are the right person you could earn a spot as Coordinator in our company, or maybe even your own office!
